Creative Life Scrapbooking Summer Blog Hop

My family is already full-steam-ahead into the school year: getting up early, new schedules, homework, sports, music lessons, church activities, volunteer sign-ups, making lunches and "HEY MOM, THESE JEANS FROM LAST YEAR ARE TOO SHORT!"

But technically, it's still summer.  And we're going to hang on to those summer memories as long as we can.  Creative Memories' Citrus Summer collection is colorful, cheery, and captures the fun of summer without overwhelming your photos. I hope you enjoy these layouts I did with these great papers, stickers and CM tools.  Click on any photo for a larger view!

I LOVE adding as many photos as possible to a layout. It requires some creative cropping; focus on the subject and get rid of whatever is not needed. Keep it balanced - if you crop a photo one size, have another similar sized photo on your layout. I used CM's 12-inch trimmer, the wave trimmer, and the Border Maker System with Sunshine cartridge.

I added a patterned yellow paper behind the Sunshine border, which was cut with white cardstock.

To make this page, start with a patterned paper. Layer a rectangle and square from different papers, then your matted photos on top. I like how the black mats make the photos stand out. A simple border, stickers, and a journal box tucked under the rectangle, and that's it.  One thing I have learned with layouts is to have everything connected - notice how the journal box and stickers all touch the elements nearby. It's ok to scrunch it all together; no need to fill every inch of the page, either.

Time to keep hopping! Be sure to visit all of these lovely blogs today - they are all full of fresh ideas!
